RMS Queen Mary

RMS Queen Mary is a retired ocean liner that sailed primarily on the North Atlantic Ocean from 1936 to 1967 for the Cunard Line. The Queen Mary was officially retired from service in 1967, and sailed to the port of Long Beach where she remains permanently moored. The ship serves as a tourist attraction featuring restaurants, a museum and a hotel. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has a reputation for being haunted.

It is reputedly haunted by uexplained sounds, as well as disembodied voices, crying, laughter and moaning; the barking of an invisible dog; the sight and smell of cigar smoke which has been attributed to British Prime Minister Winston Churchill who used the ship during the Second World War.

The apparition of a crew member in dirty overalls has been sighted, as has a ghostly female swimmer in the pool on the pool deck as well as accompanying activity in the vacinity that includes noises and water appearing on the poolside floor, even though the water remains calm and undisturbed.

In the dining area, objects have reportedly moved as has furniture in front of witnesses.

Throughout the ship, some people feel that they are being watched and have a distinct feeling of discomfort.

The ship is now a mecca for amateur ghost hunters, with many claiming to have obtained photographic, video or audio evidence of alleged paranormal phenomena.

Renowned investigator and Society for Psychical Research member, Tony Cornell, spent 10 days investigating the ship, and his findings are documented in his book Investigating the Paranormal.
